The Fine Art of Entertainment

The history of Zimmermann – 55 years at Zug

Thomas Zimmermann founded the company Radio Zimmermann in 1964 in the heart of Zug’s old town. In addition to an extensive product range, personal advice and customer service were already among the strengths of the company at that time.

The introduction of colour television in 1968 led to rapid growth of the company. In 1991 Urban Zimmermann, the son of the company founder, took over the business and founded Zimmermann Radio TV Elektronik AG.

The picture shows the press invitation from 1983, when Radio TV Zimmermann presented the first CD player in Zug – at that time a small sensation.

In the course of the following years, the company changed from a traditional radio and television business to a provider of high-quality audio and video systems.

The premium manufacturers Bang&Olufsen and Loewe took up more and more space in the product range. The opening of the Bang&Olufsen shop-in-shop in 2002 emphasized the new orientation. Soon afterwards, the newly created motto “Zimmermann The fine art of Entertainment” underscored the new standards of the company and its customers.

The rooms in the old town were slowly becoming too cramped for a sophisticated product presentation. In November 2007, the company moved to the new spacious premises at Chamerstrasse 175. Exhibition, consulting and technology found a new home on an area of 270m2.

There, discerning customers can get excited about the cool perfection of the Danish manufacturer Bang&Olufsen or find an attractive alternative in the German premium brand Loewe. Since spring 2016, the top audio brand Revox has enriched Zimmermann’s selection with the complete range. Further products round off the assortment.

At the new location, motorized customers can find free parking in the underground car park or conveniently reach the sales premises by tram.
